† APR excludes the insurance premium, which the bank doesn't publish (it depends on the borrower) - the actual APR is higher.

Key findings

  • Choosing the bank matters: the dearest offer costs €12 a month and €914 in total more than the cheapest (Primorska hranilnica).
  • A longer term costs extra: 60 months instead of 36 months lowers the payment by €111 a month but costs €466 more in total.

Fixed rate, €10,000 loan, all costs included. Term comparison: 36 vs 60 months.

Note: the rate shown is the bank's nominal annual rate for the selected rate type and customer status - including time-limited promotional offers, marked with a "Promo" badge. APR is calculated from the nominal rate plus published one-time and monthly costs; where a bank doesn't publish its approval fee, APR may be slightly understated. The monthly payment includes the loan administration fee, and the total repayment includes all payments plus one-time and monthly fees. For offers that require being an existing customer we also add the bank's cheapest account any adult can open (a current account receiving your salary is usually enough to count as a customer); it is included in the monthly payment, total repayment and APR. Account fees are taken from the Bank of Slovenia's fee comparison.
A bank with no matching offer for the selected combination (amount, term, rate type, status) is marked "No offer for the selected criteria". A value the bank doesn't publish is shown as -.

What this means for you: a fixed rate stays the same until the loan is repaid, so a change in the chart only affects new loans. For a consumer loan, also compare the APR, which includes all fees.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about consumer loans 5

How does the consumer loan comparison calculate the monthly payment?
The comparison uses each bank's publicly published nominal interest rate for the selected rate type and existing-customer status, then calculates the annuity payment from that rate, the amount and the term. Results are informational and may change.
Why is a lower interest rate shown for existing customers?
Banks often offer a better rate to customers who have a transaction account with them receiving a salary or pension, sometimes combined with additional (life) insurance. If you don't meet those conditions, untick "existing customer" and the comparison shows only offers without that requirement.
Does the comparison also show promotional offers?
Yes. Where a bank publishes a time-limited promotional rate for a consumer loan, the comparison shows it and marks it with a "Promo" badge, with the conditions listed in the offer details. Once the promotion expires, the data automatically reverts to the regular rate.
What does APR mean for a consumer loan?
APR (annual percentage rate) folds the nominal interest rate together with all one-time and monthly loan costs into a single annual figure, making it a more accurate measure of the loan's total cost than the nominal rate alone. When comparing banks with different approval fees, APR is the better yardstick.
Is the consumer loan comparison financial advice or a binding offer?
No. The comparison is informational and is not financial advice or a binding offer. The actual interest rate also depends on the borrower's creditworthiness and the bank's assessment - always check current terms with the bank before taking out a loan.
