Gold/silver vs. deposit vs. ETF
Data is up to date: Data: 29 Oct 2026
How a one-off investment of the same size would have performed in four different forms: a bank deposit, a popular ETF fund, gold and silver. Notes and limitations
- All four options represent a one-off investment (no recurring monthly contributions) compounded over the selected period - a like-for-like comparison basis.
- The deposit figure applies Slovenia's 25% tax on interest income above a €1,000 exemption. ETF/gold/silver returns are pre capital-gains tax.
- ETF, gold and silver returns are not guaranteed; the range (pessimistic–optimistic) is based on historical rolling 10-year windows, not a forecast.
- Gold/silver figures include an estimated annual storage cost/dealer spread (1.5%) - actual costs vary between providers.
